Our speaker this evening, Paul Stanley talked us through his career from the UK publishing world, to New York and thence to Venezuela. Participants, as in members and guests, got actively involved in discussion in our general arena and also in smaller groups in so-called break-out rooms.

Paul Graham Stanley, dual national British/US living in Caracas, Venezuela; West Ham United supporter; President of Angel-Eco Tours, Angel Conservation Corporation and Fundación Etnika; former VP Print Representative of Courier International; former President of the Book Industry Guild of New York (BIGNY); and now author of Venezuela’s Lost World: Discovery, Cooperation and Conservation in Kamarata Valley.

These tales of adventure and discovery have a back story built on institutional development, and cooperation. Paul’s career has taken him from Essex boy selling print in the UK on an epic journey to work with the indigenous people of Canaima National Park, Venezuela. Paul has now written a book on his Venezuelan experience called “Venezuela’s Lost World”, which brings together experts to discuss their roles in this unique place. It takes the reader from historical explorers to modern day scientists working to catalogue and explore the exceptional tepui environments.
