Trading as Nick Blatchley Copywriting since 2014, but has been a writer since the age of 4, when he started writing stories.. In the years that have followed, he has written a large amount of both fiction and poetry, much of which has been published.

However, this hasn't been enough to make a living, so he has worked in a wide range of jobs, from bookselling to residential care. After being made redundant in the wake of the 2008 crash, I decided to use my skills in a more commercial way and set up as a self-employed copywriter.

Since then, both the range of work and the variety of clients have grown. He has written for sectors ranging from construction to health and wellness, taking in a Polish sportswoman and a sculptor who once worked with Henry Moore. From a local base, his reach has spread across the country, and now he has several international clients.

Although he knew from the start that his fiction experience would be a transferrable skill, he has gradually come to appreciate that marketing is also all about telling stories.

In this talk, Nick will explain how the skills of a novelist can work when writing marketing content, as well as looking at some of the experiences he has had in copywriting for his clients.
