Jacquie Bloese is a writer of historical fiction. Her debut novel The French House, a gritty World War 2 love story, set on Occupied Guernsey, was a finalist in the 2019 Mslexia Novel Competition, and was published by Hodder and Stoughton in April. Her next novel The Golden Hour, set in 1890s fin-de-siècle Brighton, is in progress. 

Jacquie grew up on Guernsey, an upbringing which provided lots of inspiration for her debut novel. Her love of travel, languages and different cultures led to a career in English Language Teaching publishing and she has worked as an editor and publisher for a variety of publishers, including Oxford University Press, Macmillan Education, Scholastic and Ladybird, Penguin Random House.

She lives in Brighton, where she combines writing with her job as a freelance ELT consultant, writer and editor.
